Rite Flight: A Classroom Reading Rate Program and Rite Flight: A Classroom Comprehension Program are supplemental programs written by the staff of the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Rite Flight is not a comprehensive dyslexia intervention. Rite Flight: Rate and Rite Flight: Comprehension are designed to be a Tier II intervention for use by classroom teachers, reading specialists and special education teachers with first through eighth grade students within the framework of a Response to Intervention (RtI) model. Rite Flight can be used as a supplemental intervention for individuals, small groups or the entire classroom. Rite Flight can be used in conjunction with an existing dyslexia program to enhance fluency and comprehension instruction.
The Rite Flight Workshop addresses two important components identified by the National Reading Panel as needed for effective reading instruction – Reading Rate (Fluency) and Reading Comprehension.
